ART! Plein Air Pawtucket art event captures essence of city
Back by popular demand, Plein Air Pawtucket returns to Pawtucket September 2-3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The one-of-a-kind event will allow enthusiasts to explore the work of talented artists as they paint throughout the historic Slater Mill Park, a new focus this year instead of being spread throughout downtown. Artists will work en plein air – a style of painting that leaves the four walls of the studio behind, allowing the artist to experience painting and drawing in the open air while incorporating the ever-changing natural light, color and movement into their work. “I’m very excited to bring this event back to the Pawtucket Arts Festival weekend,” said Nick Paciorek , Pawtucket artist and the event ’s creator. “The Slater Mill and its surrounding park and Blackstone river offer such a rich source of inspiration for painters while offering the public a glimpse of the artists’ process.” Attendees can picnic in the park, enjoy the scenery, listen to live ...
