The Houston Astros will host the Washington Nationals for Game one of their interleague series this Tuesday from Minute Maid Park.
Nationals Betting Preview
Washington fell to 26-38 after dropping two of three to Atlanta. The Nationals snapped their six-Game skid after winning the series finale, but they’ll face an uphill battle attempting to build on here against Houston. The Washington offense is scoring 3.42 runs per Game, while batting .267, with a .330 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.56 ERA, with a 1.44 WHIP. Lane Thomas has recorded a hit in six of the last eight Games, and he leads the Nats in runs (42), with splits of .279/9/30. Joey Meneses produced runs in two of three Games in Atlanta, and he leads the Nats in batting (.307) and RBI (32). Luis Garcia has multiple hits in five of the last nine Games, while plating a run in three of the last four.
Patrick Corbin (4-6, 4.89 ERA, 46 Ks) will make the start for Washington. The veteran southpaw pitched six full innings against his former squad Arizona last week, but he ended up earning his first loss in nearly a month. Corbin has shown more steadiness on the mound this season after flaming out in 2022, only allowing more than three runs once over his last ten outings, with seven of those being quality starts. Although Corbin’s pitched well as of late, Houston’s lineup will be no walk in the park.

Astros Betting Preview
Houston enters at 36-28 after dropping two of three to Cleveland. The Astros were held scoreless in the series finale, and they’ll look to avenge that performance here in Game one. The Houston offense is scoring 4.66 runs per Game, while batting .246, with a .314 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.32 ERA, with a 1.25 WHIP. Yordan Alvarez’ absence was felt in the series with Cleveland, and he may also miss this set with Washington. Jose Abreu had a pair of three-RBI Games against Cleveland to bring his total to 29. Mauricio Dubon has recorded multiple hits in four of the last five Games, and he leads Houston in batting (.300). Alex Bregman has produced a run in three of the last four Games, and he’s posting splits of .244/9/39.
Hunter Brown (5-3, 3.69 ERA, 79 Ks) will get the ball for Houston. The second-year right-hander pitched well in Toronto last week, striking out five in six full innings pitched, but he ended up taking the losing decision. Brown had a rocky month of May, but after delivering three quality starts in his last four outings, he may fare well in this home spot against the Nationals. Brown cleared eight strikeouts in four straight appearances prior to only reaching five against the Jays last time out.
Washington vs Houston Trends
Washington is 38-26 against the spread this season, with a 29-32-3 O/U record. Houston is 34-32 ATS this year, with a 32-33-1 over/under record.
Corey’s Free Pick
Houston struggled over the weekend, and they’ll now have the perfect opportunity to respond at home against a historically vulnerable Patrick Corbin. Even without Yordan Alvarez presence in the lineup, the Astros should be able to find production off of Corbin, and get some momentum back on their side. Back Houston for this interleague matchup, and double down with the manageable Over.
